Default product sorting can be selected globally or by category by yourself.
A box can also be added to your shopping cart to allow your customer to sort your items to their preference.
Default Global Sorting Options
Default sorting of your products can be adjusted globally.
E-commerce > Customise Display Options > Sorting (under Main/Category List Page Display Options)
Sorting Options:
- Ordered
- Alphabetical
- Chronological
- Historical
- Last Edit
- Cheapest
- Expensive
- Location
- Code/ISBN
- Special1
- Special2
- Random
- Alphabetical In Stock First
- Default in Stock First
- Availability
Per Category Sorting (Overrides Global Sorting)
Hover over the category on the left menu till you see the settings cog. Click on the settings cog, then use the Product Sorting Dropdown to change for that category only.

In the ecommerce > Display Options area you can check a box Show Product Sorting Dropdown to show a product sorting option that your website customer can use on the Product list page.
The Product Sorting Dropdown will appear to the top-right of the Product List / Category List page.

- Alphabetical
- Code (Product Code)
- Lowest Price
- Highest Price
- Newest (Newest Added Product)

by default hiding a category does not hide the products within it. By checking the cascade security options found in the Category settings area the security setting you choose for the categories can be applied to the subcategories and products within.
