Investigating incorrect prices

Why is my product showing the wrong price?

The price that is shown on a website may be wrong for many different reasons.

If you would like a support person to investigate a pricing issue, it's important that we know all the following things.

  • What is the correct price that should show?
  • What is the wrong price shown?
  • On what page URL are you seeing the wrong price?
  • What is the product ID, Code, or title?
  • Should we login as a particular customer, or use a particular discount code?
  • Is the price correct when you add it to the cart?
  • A screenshot showing the location of the price in the content of the page.

Why do we need the above information?

  • We do not intimately know your product pricing. We will investigate by using the product code, or URL initially to find the right product
  • Knowing the right and wrong price in advance will help us identify when we can see what you see, otherwise we might be talking at cross purposes.

The following is a list of reasons why you may see the wrong price

  • Publish your website or clear your browser cache, to be sure that you are seeing the most recent version of the page.
  • Is the pricing reflective of international customers, or a specific currency? If the IP address is detected as being from overseas, and if your shipping options or settings faciliate it, then you may be seeing the price defaulted for your perceived geographical location.
  • The pricing display rules may be showing a GST inclusive or exclusive price, with/without wording.
  • The product may be set to exclude sales tax, as might happen in some countries for food.
  • The product may have specific shipping fees allocated.
  • Perhaps a discount is active, or no longer active.
  • Perhaps a user is logged in and seeing VIP or trade pricing, or perhaps they are logged out, or seeing a public version of the page.
  • If the product detail was added to another WYSIWYG page using a snippet / wizard, then such information will not automatically update when changes are made to your product. Care should be taken only to promote a few products like this, and otherwise, using a featured products widget that will automaticaly fetch the latest data.

We know this issue can be frustrating, please consider those answers, and then provide us as much information as you can.
