Popup Shopping Cart

We have upgraded our shopping cart across all websites to now support thumbnails of products, and a better layout.

An even better shopping cart version is our new popup version. The new popup interface is more intuitive allowing users to add to cart, or manage their cart contents, without needing to navigate away from the current page. This is great when you want customers to order more than 1 item.

Freight Calculations

It is now easier to setup your freight calculations. You can now enter exact pricing for 5 weight bands, then a generic fee per standard unit. eg $5 per 5kg... Rather than the old $1 per 1kg. We hope these improvements will enable to you to more acurately price freight for your customers. 

While on the topic of freight, we've also noted a new online tool called www.freightme.co.nz, why not offer your customers the option of "pickup by prepaid courier"? Your customers can then use a service like this to book and pay their own freight fee, and choose whether or not to have home delivery or go to their local depot for pickup.

We are currently working on a method for calculating freight based on volume. We will enable the option to specify your product volume in the meanwhile, but this will be ignored in the freight calculation until further notice. 

Member Personal Messages

You can now enter private messages for your members when they login, and/or use that feature to embed special tracking code, or auto login features to 3rd party applications.

New Clipart Website - Great Learning Tool

We have made a new instructional website for those who want to rev up the design of their website content, with paragraph borders, and other tips and tricks. Our designers have been busy populating our new clipart website with easy to copy/paste code. This is a great resource for all you intermediate level web designers. Don't forget that you can copy and paste CSS code from many places on the internet, but you will have to fix any references to images... Our clipart site makes that part easy, as all clipart images are automatically available on all our webspaces.

If you are strugling to think about some gift ideas, why not try the "gift search" feature at www.megamart.co.nz. This website is a giant shopping mall with over 100,000 products to choose from.

You can promote your products for free on the www.megamart.co.nz website, by further optimising your categories in the "more options" of our search engine optimisation area. 

You can also list your business for free in the Megamart business directory via the "add shop" area of that website. This is a great option for a free SEO friendly link, and it suitable for service oriented businesses who don't have shopping carts.

Search Engine Optimisation Tip of the Month 

Register your domain name for several years in advance. 

Google is able to look at the registry information, and see which domains have been around the longest, and which businesses are committed to the future of their business by registering their domain name for several years. It is relatively cheap to register for several years in advance, and also saves both you and us some administration time. We even offer a discount for those multi year renewals.  You don't have to wait until renewal time to renew your domain, you can do it anytime you like. Domains can be registered for a maximum of 10 years from today, so this normally means the maximum you can renew is 9 years and some months.
