Social Media Club Auckland

I've been enjoying attending events at Social Media Club Auckland, here's some guff on it:

Social Media Club is a global network of groups and individuals, with a common interest in all things social media and its impact on people in their personal and professional lives. The organisation was founded by Kristie Wells and Chris Heuer in San Francisco in March 2006 (More information about them here).

Social Media Club Auckland (aka SMCakl) is the local chapter in the city founded in Feb 2010 by Nicholas O'Flaherty, Alex Erasmus and Paul Matthews. It has grown to a 1500+ community comprising members of all ages, from all walks of life. A vibrant and organically growing community, SMCakl lives, interacts, collaborates, shares information and exchanges value via its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/smcakl) and the LinkedIn Group (http://t.co/2N6nUcl).

Social Media Club Auckland organises monthly meetups where 3-4 prominent speakers from different backgrounds share social media case studies and industry-specific experiences. SMCakl is run by a small admin team and is built on the principles of crowdsourcing where the evening sessions are sponsored by companies - for venue, F&B, catering, prizes. While the companies gain marketing advantage via the meetups and the engagement it generates, corporate sponsorship enables the club to keep Social Media Club Auckland Open Invitation and free to attend and join.

Social Media Club Auckland usually meets on the second Tuesday of very month.
