WebWidgets August Newsletter

Hi Everyone

Welcome to WebWidgets news.  This month’s edition features new website updates regarding ecommerce and editing images, information about a domain scam doing the rounds, and five new websites for you to visit.

WebWidgets updates

New Menu Navigation: You may have noticed the updated blue menu navigation within your login area of Web Widgets. You now need to hover over the blue buttons or web addresses for the additional options.  If you click on a page name or webaddress you will also find a complete list of options available. All the  different page management options can also be accessed from a tab list on the top right once you are editing a page. Remember to save before changing tabs. A new improved "single plain page" editor will be launched next month, and this will be more compatible with firebox users.

Ecommerce: The following feature has been requested a lot, so now you can place several items/products into more than one category.  eg. create several categories, such as Fathers Day, but the products to be included are already loaded under other categories.

Editing images: The Edit button on images now gives you the ability to resize an image after uploading it into Web Widgets. The most common sizes are included as both pixel sizes and plain english to make it easier for you to create images that are size-compatible with your website.

New WebWidgets office location

The WebWidgets office is relocating to 239 Onehunga Mall, Onehunga on Friday 1st September.  It is a bigger and brighter office in Onehunga, one block down the road from the current office.  It is situated in the Bray Building, above the Geneva Finance shop.  You are welcome to visit us at any time, and we will be having an office opening party at 5pm on Friday the 22nd September.  If you happen to be in the area at this time, pop in and say hello!

Hosting Fees Discount Available

Did you know that you are entitled to a 13% discount for paying hosting fees annually?  If you would like to take advantage of this discount, please contact accounts@webwidgets.co.nz, requesting your hosting plan be changed to an annual package.

Long-term domain name renewals have also been discounted.  Domain names can now be renewed for 3 years for only $90 + GST.

Beware of a new domain name scam

We are aware that there is another Domain Name registration scam doing the rounds in the form of a mass mail out by an entity called "NZ Domain
Registration Ltd".

You can read about it here http://dnc.org.nz/story/30259-29-1.html and here http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3758533a28,00.html.

NZ Domain Registration Ltd appears to be sending pro forma letters to domain name holders seeking fees for the registration of .net.nz names. The letters
specify a .net.nz domain name to be registered. The letters are in a printed form that looks similar to an invoice or a renewal notice. It is not a genuine invoice.

If you have recently received what appears to be an invoice or a renewal notice for your domain name from NZ Domain Registration Ltd, discard this letter.

You are under no obligation to proceed with the registration and doing nothing will not affect your current domain name registration.
