Appointment Reservation Calendar with Availability

We had been working on building our own meeting reservation system, and then we discovered a nifty little service called www.tungle.me, it did everything we wanted to and more, and doesn't cost a cent, so we cancelled our project and immediately made use of it.

Tungle.me synchronises with your calendar and allows customers to make an appointment during a free time within preconfigured parameters. e.g. You might only take meetings on specific days, and it won't double book you. Once setup you can do manage everything from your calendar or phone.

It is perfect for people like: hairdressors, dentists, trainers, massage therapists and other very busy people.

Improved Support For Apple Users

If you use an Apple computer, you were probably unaware until now that you could insert rows/columns into tables, or change the properties of a table by just right clicking. This is because that right click functionality doesn't work with Apple computers. We have now added a 3rd row of table editing features to the WYSIWYG editor toolbar. Have fun apple users!

 

Christchurch Earthquake

Web Widgets Ltd donated $5000 to red cross for all the fine work they are doing in Christchurch following the big earthquake.

In addition, any businesses who were significantly effected by the earthquake, such that you are thinking of taking your website offline, then please consider asking us to give you a temporary repreive on your hosting fee. It will be better for your search engine optimisation to keep your website online.

 

Domain Names

Purchasing your domains direct from us will ensure better customer support for your domain name.

Don't be fooled by trademark infringement warnings from Asia. You don't need to buy those domain names unless you really want them. There are just so many domain suffixes, it really is pointless buying them all unless you have a specific reason.

Tips

  • Domains containing keywords are great, but you can really only have one primary web address. So buying several variations of keyphrases are a waste of time. Focus all your SEO linking effort on your best domain name.
  • Use alternative domain names in offline/radio/tv advertising, to guage the success of those mediums.
  • Buy additional domain names only if you think misspellings or "address guessing" will get you some traffic.

A tip on promoting a new website, incentives do work. I'm promoting this site for a friend, and it's a new "deals" type site. They are giving away 5 ipads for $1 each, and now is a good time to enter to win.

Social Media - Hootesuite

This web based application is a great way to manage several social media networks in one place, and quickly see your mentions and follow keyword searches across a range of channels. The use of columns with your saved searches saves you having to repeat your searches. You can also submit the same status update to mulitple networks, and even time the delivery of your post for maximum exposure over time.

Search Engine Optimisation Tip of the Month - Google Places

I can't really reiterate enough how important it is for any accommodation/tourism provider or trades person or anyone with geographically important keyword terms, that they really must ensure they have a "google places" listing, or that they have updated their google places listing.

Google places is focused on geographically competitive businesses. Do a search on your industry name, plus a geographical region keyword that makes sense for your industry, eg city or suburb, then look for the variation in googles standard search results. This data is coming from Google Places, and it is also used for google map searches too!
