Website World provides a secure Model Context Protocol (MCP) service that allows compatible AI assistants and agents to work with your website data.
You can use it to request reports, find information, explore website data and prepare controlled bulk product updates using natural language.
What you need
You need:
- A Website World account with API access
- An AI assistant or agent that supports remote MCP servers
- Permission to access the relevant website and data
Connecting your AI assistant
In your AI assistant, look for a setting such as:
- MCP servers
- Connectors
- Tools
- Integrations
- Custom MCP server
Add the following remote MCP server address:
https://api.cms-tool.net/api/mcp
Your assistant should open a Website World sign-in and authorization page. Sign in and approve the requested access.
You do not need to supply an API key directly to the assistant. Website World uses OAuth to authorize the connection securely.
The exact setup screens vary between AI assistants. Consult your assistant’s documentation for instructions on adding a remote or custom MCP server.
Using the connection
Once connected, ask your assistant what you want to accomplish in ordinary language.
For example:
- “Find the member with this email address.”
- “Show sales by month for the past year.”
- “Find products with low stock.”
- “Preview an increase to member prices.”
- “Show me the categories available on this website.”
The assistant will retrieve the current instructions and metadata it needs before preparing a request.
Reports can range from a single-record lookup to detailed reports and aggregated results covering a period of time.
Product updates provide a preview of the affected products and their before-and-after values. Review the preview carefully before authorizing the update.
Available capabilities
The Website World MCP provides tools for:
- Retrieving database and planning metadata
- Retrieving website-specific metadata
- Running reports and data lookups
- Previewing bulk product updates
- Executing approved product updates
The MCP service supplies your assistant with the current detailed instructions and data structures when they are needed.
Rate limiting
The MCP service is rate limited to protect website performance and provide fair access.
Your assistant will be notified if a rate limit is reached and told when it may retry. Complicated reports and bulk updates may take several seconds to complete. Avoid submitting the same request repeatedly while it is still running.
Security and permissions
The assistant can only access websites and operations permitted by your Website World account and the authorization you approve.
You can revoke the connection through your Website World account or through your AI assistant’s connector settings.
Treat report results and update previews as business data. Review important results and product changes before relying on or approving them.
