September News 2025

This month, we're focusing on selling online and exploring your options when launching new products, starting a blog for your store and automating your shipping processes.

Launching New Products

With 95% of new products failing in their first year, it's vital that your product launch is successful. You need to get and retain the attention of your target audience and demonstrate to them the benefits of purchasing and using your product.

With all of the feasibility research behind you, it's time to write up your launch plan and get it online. We've made a list of 5 steps to help you have a successful launch, plus some great product launch ideas.

How to Automate Your Shipping Processes

Automated shipping makes it quicker, easier and cheaper to send out your customers' orders. Some of the key benefits include:
  • Lower costs - by removing some of the manual and repetitive tasks, you free up your time to focus on other things like manufacturing or marketing.
  • Increased productivity and speed - orders get sent faster, freeing up your time to spend on other tasks.
  • Improved customer experiences - customers love receiving their orders faster and being updated on order progress.
  • Reduced errors - the fewer errors, the less time and money you need to spend on correcting them.
  • Real time analytics - you can see your live shipping and inventory details at a glance.

In this handy guide, we'll explain what shipping automation is, why you should consider using it for your online business and how you can get started using it today.

Eco-Friendly Packaging Ideas for Retailers

The use of eco-friendly packaging has grown significantly over the years, with consumer demand for it at the forefront. This has left retailers looking for ideas on how to package individual products, wrap orders to customers and display products in a store.

We share the 4 key features to consider when choosing packaging and ideas for the packaging itself.

How to Write Product Descriptions

Like all the other pages on your website, your product description provides an opportunity for your website to be found and ranked by search engines. This means that when writing your product description, you need to consider two things: convince the reader to buy your product and it needs to be found by search engines so someone can read it!

It can be a chicken and egg situation in deciding which of these two things you should concentrate on first, so today we're explaining how to do both - at the same time! We're also going to list the characteristics a great product description has, plus explain how to write high converting product descriptions.

Site of the Month - Paws Pet Photography

Paw Prints Photography amazed us with the exceptional quality of images they have displayed on their website! Photographs are located throughout the website in a variety of sizes, promoting her services and a very special fundraiser - a 2026 Colindar, consisting of photos of Dame Lisa Carrington's dog Colin, with proceeds to Save the Kiwi.

System Updates

  • Adding a free item to cart automatically - Products that are specified in the discounts area as 100% off subject to whatever conditions, will now be automatically added to the cart if those conditions are met. E.g. 100% off max 1 apple, if an orange is bought. Buy an orange, then you will get a free apple automatically.
  • Customer/Member history - Customer/Member history now includes all activity for a specific member in a single chronological feed. This way you can see how a bulk email, generated a link click, and a visit, and then maybe an order purchase, login, enquiry etc.

  • New Snippet Editor Feature - A snippet editor feature has been added as a beta/test feature in the Drag-drop / Contentbox editors. It allows you to add or edit content within a snippet block content area without having to click/drag/use keyboard presses. If you click your mouse into a specific content area (and it finds something valid) you will see a couple of icons appear. (Clearing cache might be required)

  • Automate Your Picking and Packing - You can use the Pick List function in the POS to streamline picking and packing your orders. Products are listed in location order for easier product picking. When using a barcode scanner to confirm your picked products, one of two sounds will be made to indicate you have selected the correct product, or the wrong product/quantity. Once all products are scanned, a status message will indicate picking is complete, and the user can upgrade the order status ready for shipping. This task can be allocated to a warehouse employee without giving access to other product pricing or CMS features. More info here.
