Our free training sessions will teach you how to use our website builder to build your own website or on line shop. The course covers all the basics with some tips on bulk emailer, shopping carts, and search engine optimisation included. We also have advanced courses available for a small fee.

Online Training Videos

We have revamped our online videos. Stay tuned over coming weeks for many more videos demonstrating all the features of our service. These online videos will soon replace our free training courses, so if you haven't yet attended one of our free training courses, you may like to do that early this year.

The online training videos allow users with different abilities to go straight to the item they want to learn, and move at their own pace, and pause or rewind parts that interest them. We believe the online training video approach will make most efficient use of your time, giving you free on demand training.

One on One Training / Hourly Web Design Service

One on one training is a great way to enhance your website at a discount price. Sit down with one of our professional web designers for an hour and see what evolves. This is a great way for intermediate users to increase their skills, or for novice users to speed up the process of creating their website. For just $90 your website will be greatly improved. The same hourly fee also applies for SEO or any other professional help you need. One on one available at our Onehunga Auckland office with either Albie or Mike. Or in Christchurch and Wellington with Reuben ($120/hr) timed to coincide with our scheduled training courses. Reply to this email or phone to book a time.

If you are not based in the main centers, our design staff can still provide the same service over the phone. They will look at your website, and make changes that you will be able to see as you refresh your browser.

 

New Low Cost Website Design Package - Only $540

For those on a budget, we can now offer a great low cost web design package for only $540 + gst.

This is a "time only" package. You will initially sit together with our one of professional designers for 2 hours, who will create your website using one of our existing design templates, personalised with your own graphics into the banner. This time will also include personalised training on how to best enter your content into the content management system. You can then continue to work on your website content in your own time, getting support from our staff within your allocated time. Finally you will sit down again with our designer for 2 hours and tidy up any design issues, content issues, and complete a quick search engine optimisation review or other requests as time permits. This is strictly a time only package, requiring full payment before proceeding. A total of 6 hours is allocated, in which 4 hours is allocated to contact time and 2 hours is allocated to email/phone support time. Project hours will be clearly noted on a job sheet, you can purchase additional hours as required.

This offer is also open to customers not in Auckland. Our designers will require plenty of phone contact time with you to discuss graphics and provide you with over the phone training.

Hourly Pricing Changes

We have reduced our hourly design rates, training and SEO fees are now only $90 per hour plus GST. This is for any time completed by Albie or Mike. However, any time spent with Reuben on SEO, training or programming will be charged at $120 per hour plus GST. Our standard quotes for $1800 professional design and $2000 ecommerce sites remain unchanged. Please note our new $540 time only budget design package.

 

Events Booking System (now with Payments)

Our events management system has now been upgraded to accept payments. You need to be on a business hosting plan or higher to use this service.

In the events management area, on the right, there is a link to manage products and shopping options. Once you have selected a currency, added some payment options, and added a product and price for your event, then you can connect this product to your event. If you are like us, we repeat our events often, and so you only need to create this product once.

From the user perspective they book as normal. On the thank you page, if the event is chargeable, then it asks them to continue to the next page to make payment. On this next page it will allow them to reconfirm their customer details and method of payment, then on the following page, an invoice will be raised and they can pay.

Please note that your attendee status will not change automatically once paid. You need to manage this list yourself. You should receive an receipt for credit card payments if everything has been setup correctly.

Additional Small Business Training Seminars

We are moving offices to Grey Lynn

We have just purchased new office space on Richmond Rd in Grey Lynn, Auckland. Our new office will be more centrally located for all our Auckland customers, and still with free parking outside.

Our new address will be 14/386 Richmond Rd, Grey Lynn, however anyone attending this Friday's training, should still come to Onehunga.

 

Onehunga Office Space Available

We are vacating our previoud office in Onehunga and still have 4.5 months to run on the leases. There are 2 units, both situated in the main street of Onehunga in a quality office block. Both have ceiling mounted air conditioning units, and are sunny and light with polished wooden floors and high ceilings.

Office 1 is 100sqr meters, including full bathroom, laundary and separate kitchen. Potential to live and work in same space. Well setup for photographers. Lease is $26460p/a +gst and no opex. We will either pay the first month rent if lease signed before May, or provide office 2 free of charge until end of August. 

Office 2 is 33sqr meters and has a sink. Use of shared toilet facilities. Indicative lease is $8500 p/a, and no opex. We can sublease at $120+gst per week until end of August. 2 free desks can be included if you let us know asap.

Navigational Tips

Publish does not mean go live. Many people are confused about the publish button. If your website was live, then the publish button will make your changes live. However, even if you are not live, you do need to click the publish button occasionally. If you don't click publish, then view a page, then navigate to a different page, then you may notice that everything looks old. The publish button is like a "second step save" that will make any design changes apply across your whole website.

Having trouble with spacing between paragraphs when editing old or pasted content? Try selecting all the text, and the choosing "unformat" from the "style/size" toolbar menu. This might temporarily add some spacing, but once you have corrected those using the delete key, all your issues will have been resolved. Why does this happen? Well the HTML code used by some other programs, or by our old V4 editor, could have been invalid, or not compatible with our V5 editor. V5 still allows you to edit that content, but often the spacing gets messed up. Pasting as plain text or unformating text is the only solution.


SEO Tip of the Month - LinkedIn.com vs Social Networking

A lot of people go on about social networking, but unless you actively participate and make a lot of "wall updates" or "tweets" about your business, then it's not much point. People also need to want to be a "fan" or a "follower" and they can quickly undo that if they don't like what you're posting.

However, you should not miss out on the business opportunities via LinkedIn.com. This website is for businesses and professionals. I personally believe that Linked In will replace CV's this year, and if you don't have an active Linked In page, then you won't make the short list. This approach will be the same for finding suppliers or for finding new staff.

Connections are good for everyone, and we really encourage all our customers to join Linked In, and more importantly to search in top right box for "Reuben Jackson" whois "CEO at Web Widgets Ltd". Then hover over me, then click "Add to network" then "We've done business together". And if you feel so inclined, please go to your profile menu, then recommendations, and please make a personal recommendation about us.

OK, the above will not really help your search engine optimisation, but it might gain you some "quality traffic" and "quality leads", and that's the whole point really.
