Countdown to end of preferential status .nz domains

At 1pm on March 30th this year, that PRR status will end. This means that anyone can register the shorter .nz version of your domain name if you have not already registered or reserved it. There are some 370,000 .nz domains still in PRR status that will soon be able to be registered by anyone, including your competitors or domain name squatters who may charge you hundreds or thousands of dollars to acquire the domain later. We cannot emphasis how strongly we encourage you to register or reserve your shorter .nz domain.

Affiliate Loyalty Points Scheme (Rewarding Customer Referrals)

Affiliates can now earn "loyalty points". Encourage your customers to promote your products via social media using the special affiliate tracking codes, and they will earn bonus points that they can use to make purchases automatically, without any administration required....

Setup instructions: go to discounts, loyalty, and set the bonus points earned for affiliates per order value... (and that's it...) you can also add an "affiliate page" if you want your affiliates to have more understanding of their points earn history...  

You can now adjust your member points balances manually too. 

Send Reminders for Incompleted Open Carts

Auto send reminders to people with "saved carts" after merchant specified time, eg 1 day later.

Setup Instructions: go to shopping setup area, notification options.. Just specify the timing, and a introductory message, and our system will automatically email any known customers who have no finalised their order. We can know a customer if they have specifically saved their cart, or if they followed a link from a newsletter to create but not complete a cart. 

We often get asked about why so many "Open Carts". The answer to this is mainly psychology, not everyone who clicks "Buy" intends to complete a purchase. They may just be interested in the shipping fee, or wondering if there were any discounts. The benefit of capturing the open cart data is that you can see what products are popular, and have this potential to followup with customers who have been tracked by our system.

Clearing your Browser Cache and Publishing

Caching speeds up your computer, but it also causes confusion when viewing changes to your website.  Every web master needs to become familiar with this concept. Almost a third of all our support tickets relate to mis understandings about caching. We can't change the nature of the internet, we only educate.

With the introduction of the international CDN hosting service, it's important that we highlight a few issues with regards to browser and proxy caching. 

  • The importance of the publish button is even greater now. Once apon a time, product page and blog page updates might have published instantly, now you have to press the publish button to see changes.
  • If your site had errors, or was offline for a short period, you may need to press PUBLISH again to tell our CDN service to check for updates on your website. Publish will generally resolve most issues. 
  • People in different parts of the globe, may now see different versions of your content. The CDN will cache your website in different locations based on the time content was first accesses. Pressing Publish will ensure every one gets the latest version.
