Ecommerce New Features

Bulk pricing updates. It is now easier to use our bulk product pricing update tool to update reference prices... eg PriceGroupA = CheckoutPrice less 10% , or RRP = checkoutPrice plus 10% etc

Did you know when searching for products in the CMS, if you click on the price, you go to the pricing product tab, and if you click on the photo, you go to the photo tab, and stock to the stock tab etc. We are always trying to improve your workflow.

We have added some more reports to help you identify total sales and tax for a given month or date, so that you can enter this data into your GST returns or accounting system. Often it is easier to enter a summary of data than it is to deal with high volumes of duplicated invoices in Xero. 

You can now link categories to each other, eg if you want the same set of products to exist in multiple places on your category tree, you can edit a category to point to another category... Just make sure you don't put products under both categories.. :-)

POS - New Features

POS Customer search and select now improved. Pricing for trade customers is visible as soon as you select the customer in POS mode. 

Mobile POS has had some improvements, so we believe the experience is better in mobile mode. We still would like to make a few tweaks, so if you are using the POS mode on your mobile or tablet, please send us feedback. We would love to hear about it. 

We are working on a new feature to show ordinary discounts before customers have added the item to a cart, but there is alot more work to do in that area yet.

New CK Editor Version

We have recently updated the CK Editor that is available as an alternative to the TinyMCE content editor within our CMS. Please refer to the drop down top right when editing content... Different editors give the different word process style toolbars. Each have their own benefits and qwirks. TinyMCE remains our preferred option, however we would like to hightlight that CK Editor gives added options to editing form fields... So when making changes to custom forms, you might like to consider using CK Editor... eg to add options to a drop down box, or to double click on a field to see what it's field name was.

Guru Mediations

Anyone seen a guru meditation error? These have happened occassionally when our CDN proxies thought the internet was running a little slow. We are doing more work to resovle the issue. It can happen when a few users are running complex events at the same time. We have increase the timeouts to reduce the error. We are also working on making the error message more visually friendly and encouraging the user to press refresh which is all that is normally required to fix that error... Remember the internet is a magical place, it is very much like a roading system, so even when you get slowness, it does not mean our servers are running slow, it might mean your ISP is, or a gateway in the middle. 

New Domain Suffix Options

There are heaps of new domain suffix options like .kiwi, .clothing and .photography. These domains cost about twice to three times the cost of ordinary domains, but do offer many new options for getting a domain name with good SEO keywords included.

Mobile Version Upgrades

We have made it a little easier to edit the default mobile templates within the CMS. In the mobile settings area you can either enable/disable this feature, or select which content you want to show as an introductory page, (or your normal home page). You can enable custom templates too, or continue to use our standard template. You might like to add a low res banner to your mobile template to personalise it a little more, but remember these images are not always liked by users. 

If you would like some help upgrading the mobile version of your website, please contact one of our independent web designers to help you. For a small fee, they can customise the mobile version with a banner and colours to more closely resemble your brand. Our default mobile mode has been created with users in mind, so that they can quickly get to the information they require, without dealing with the complexity of a desktop version on a small device.

Clearing your Browser Cache and Publishing

Caching speeds up your computer, but it also causes confusion when viewing changes to your website.  Every web master needs to become familiar with this concept. Almost a third of all our support tickets relate to mis understandings about caching. We can't change the nature of the internet, we only educate.

With the introduction of the international CDN hosting service, it's important that we highlight a few issues with regards to browser and proxy caching. 

  • The importance of the publish button is even greater now. Once apon a time, product page and blog page updates might have published instantly, now you have to press the publish button to see changes.
  • If your site had errors, or was offline for a short period, you may need to press PUBLISH again to tell our CDN service to check for updates on your website. Publish will generally resolve most issues. 
  • People in different parts of the globe, may now see different versions of your content. The CDN will cache your website in different locations based on the time content was first accesses. Pressing Publish will ensure every one gets the latest version.

We always fix bugs fast, with all the users we have we get notified very fast of any real bug -  they are not common, so if you are having an issue operating the CMS consider some online training with us - you'll always take something away worth value. In all other cases we are happy to do anything you are having trouble doing yourself for a small fee starting from $20 for 10 minutes.
