Timeline to build your website - A better eCommerce Platform for B2B+B2C - Website World

Timeline to build your website

Setting up your website doesn't have to happen all at once. Our website platform includes a 30-day free trial, giving you time to choose your design, add your content and get everything ready before your website goes live.

However, if you take longer than this, just press publish. Publish doesn't make the site live at this stage - but it does cement links and extends your trial period.

You can work through the process at your own pace. If you already have your content and images ready, you could have a website live within a few days.

Getting Started

1. Sign up for your 30-day free trial

Sign up online to create your trial website.

During the sign-up process, you'll be asked to choose a starting design template. Don't worry too much about getting this decision perfect. If you're planning to have a customised "look and feel" created for your website, simply choose a template that provides a suitable starting point.

2. Choose your website pages

Select the types of pages you would like included in your website.

Depending on your requirements, these could include:

  • Hogar
  • Sobre nosotros
  • Contacto
  • Campo de golf
  • Noticias
  • Gallery
  • Productos
  • Carrito de compras
  • Other specialist page types

Don't worry if you don't have everything figured out at this stage. Pages and content can be added, removed or changed as your website develops.

3. Enter your contact details

Enter your contact information during the sign-up process so we can provide your account and website information.

4. Check your email

Once your trial website has been created, check your email for your login details and other useful information to help you get started.

Keep these details somewhere safe so you can easily access your website administration area.

Building Your Website

5. Log in to the CMS

Log in to the easy-to-use Content Management System (CMS) to start building your website.

From the CMS you can:

  • Add and edit website text
  • Upload and manage photos
  • Create and edit pages
  • Add products
  • Update your website whenever you need to
  • Manage domain and email services (if needed)

You don't need to have all your content ready before you start. You can build the website gradually as information becomes available.

6. Need help? Just ask

If you're unsure how to do something, ask for help.

There are help files available throughout the CMS, along with additional support and professional assistance if you need someone to help with your website.

7. Register your domain name

Your domain name is your website's web address, such as yourbusiness.co.nz.

You can register your domain name while preparing your website. Please note that your domain will not be connected to a live website until the required hosting has been paid for.

Domain registration and hosting fees apply.

Getting Your Content Ready

8. Add your content yourself or get professional help

You can enter your own text and upload your own images through the CMS.

If you'd prefer someone else to do this for you, you can provide your content and request professional assistance.

Customised web design, content entry and other professional website services are available for an additional fee.

9. Don't worry if it takes time

It can take a while to gather everything you need for your website. That's perfectly normal.

You might need to collect:

  • Business information
  • Product details
  • Prices
  • Photos
  • Logos
  • Contact information
  • Testimonios
  • Policies and other important information

You can enter the information yourself as it becomes available, or email or post the information to us if you'd like assistance with adding it to your website.

There is no need to wait until everything is perfect before getting started.

Going Live

10. Tell us when you're ready

When your website is complete and you're happy for it to go live, let us know.

Hosting fees for the first month are payable in advance before the website can be made live.

We'll then complete the necessary steps to connect your domain and publish your website.

11. Check your website before launch

Before going live, it's a good idea to work through a final checklist to make sure everything is ready.

Check the website launch checklist

This can help you catch those little things that are easy to miss, such as checking contact details, links, images, forms and page content.

After Your Website Goes Live

12. Submit your website to search engines

Once your website is live, you can use the free search engine submission tool in the CMS.

Go to the SEO area on the left.

This allows you to submit your website for indexing.

Keep in mind that submitting your website doesn't guarantee immediate search engine rankings. Search engines need time to find, crawl and assess your website.

13. Keep your website updated

Your website isn't a "set and forget" project.

You can log in to the CMS whenever you need to update your website, whether you're adding new products, changing opening hours, publishing news or simply updating some wording.

Regularly maintaining your website helps keep the information useful and accurate for your customers.

14. Website billing and statements

Statements are sent monthly.

Payment options include:

  • Credit card
  • Cheque
  • Direct debit
  • Internet banking

Refer to your statements or account information for the current fees and payment details applicable to your website.

Getting Visitors to Your Website

15. Don't forget to market your website

Getting your website online is only the beginning. People still need to know it exists.

A common misconception is that simply putting a website online will result in lots of visitors from search engines. In reality, most websites need ongoing promotion and marketing to attract visitors, particularly when competing for popular search terms.

Think of your website as a digital brochure and communication tool. Promote it wherever you promote your business, including:

  • Email signatures
  • Social media
  • Printed brochures and flyers
  • Business cards
  • Advertising
  • Invoices and correspondence
  • Links from other relevant websites

The more useful and relevant your content is, the more opportunities there are for people to find and visit your website.

Take It at Your Own Pace

There is no need to complete everything in one sitting.

The process can happen at your own pace. If you already have your content and images prepared, you could have your website live within a few days. If you need more time, your trial gives you the opportunity to build the website gradually.

Start with the basics, add your content, ask for help when you need it, and work towards getting your website ready to launch.
