Which design template is best for my needs?

When choosing a design template for your website, the most important consideration is the look and feel you want for your business.

Templates provide the starting point for your website's design, but they are flexible and can be customised to suit your needs.

Choosing a Template

When you select Design > Change to a new look and feel, you will see a range of templates to choose from, including:

  • New Templates
  • Featured Templates
  • Brochure Templates
  • E-commerce Templates

Browse through the available options and look for a template that has a layout and overall style that suits your business.

Don't worry if the template isn't a perfect match. The design can be adjusted once you have selected it.

Brochure or E-commerce Template?

The template categories are primarily there to help you find a suitable starting point. They don't permanently restrict what your website can do.

Turning a Brochure Template Into an E-commerce Website

Any template can be given e-commerce functionality.

If you choose a template that doesn't already include an e-commerce or shopping page, you can simply add an E-commerce page to the website.

This means you don't necessarily need to choose an e-commerce template just because you plan to sell products online.

Removing E-commerce From a Template

Likewise, you can remove e-commerce functionality from a template if you don't need an online store.

Simply remove the Compras page from the website.

The template itself doesn't force your website to have an online store. The functionality is determined by the pages and features you add to your website.

It's About the Look and Feel

Once you've narrowed down your options, focus on the visual style of the template.

Consider:

  • Does the overall layout suit your business?
  • Do you like the way the header and navigation look?
  • Does the banner layout work for the type of images you want to use?
  • Does the overall style suit your brand?
  • Is the layout a good starting point for your content?

You can make adjustments to many of these elements after selecting the template, including:

  • Fuentes
  • Colours
  • Banners
  • Styling
  • Layout elements
  • Other design settings

So you don't need to find a template that is absolutely perfect straight out of the box.

You Have Control Over Your Page Content

The template provides the design foundation, but it doesn't dictate what content you have on your website.

The Home page, About Us page and other content pages can be built and customised to suit your business.

You can completely rebuild the content and layout of these pages to create the website you actually need.

This means a template that looks slightly different from your ideal design can still be a great starting point.

Our Tip

Choose the template based primarily on the look and feel you like.

Don't get too caught up in whether it is labelled as a brochure or e-commerce template, or whether the Home page looks exactly how you want it.

The design can be adjusted, e-commerce functionality can be added or removed, and your page content can be completely rebuilt.
