.nz Domain Reservations Expiring  1pm 30th March 2017

About 2 years ago, many .nz registrants reserved the shorter version of their domain name. eg If you have a .co.nz web address, you might have reserved the shorter .nz version of the domain, however, you might not have registered it. That reservation process was free, and it had a 2 year limit on it. Now that time is nearing to an end, you need to register the shorter version of your domain, or lose the exclusive right to it. 

  • The deadline for registering reserved names ends at 1.00 pm on 30 March 2017
  • If registrants with rights to reserved names do not register the reserved domain name by 1.00 pm on 30 March 2017, the domain name will automatically become available to register on a first come, first served basis.

The process to register the shorter version of your domain is easy. 

  1. Se connecter au CMS
  2. Select your longer .co.nz domain
  3. Click (Registry) button
  4. Check for availability of the shorter version...
  5. Register / Transfer this domain

 If those options are not available to you, it's possible that you have already attempted the transfer/registration of your shorter domain. Check the domains list, and if it's there, attempt to complete transfer/registration. 

TIP: Registration of a reserved domain is actually treated by all domain registry companies as a "TRANSFER" of the domain, using the same UDAI as the longer version of the domain. 

All standard sites now redirecting to SSL mode

All standard plan websites and above now have access to free SSL certificates and HTTPS protocol hosting at no additional charge. 

Today we upgraded all our standard customers to have https as their default hosting mode. We will automatically redirect http sites to the https version. 

If you have any embedded content that does not display correctly, then you will need to fix it, or contact our web designers to help you. 

If you would prefer to remain on the old HTTP protocol, then you can simply login to the CMS, and change your primary web address URL to http rather than https, as the prefix. 

We encourage all our customers to upgrade to https mode, as you will get better google search results, and web visitors are more likely to convert to being customers, if they are browsing on a secure website. 

System Updates

Merge Member Records

You can now merge duplicate member records in the member management area in our CMS/CRM. 

Deposits - Now Available

Deposits - now available on a product by product basis (for Beta Testing)... Enter a percentage for relevant products, and the user only needs pay the deposit on checkout, but the order retains the full balance, to be settled later... either via a reminder email, or in POS.

Product CSV Uploads

We have tweaked our CSV upload feature. This should be much faster on bigger imports, skipping updates for rows with no changes. And better validation of reference IDs.

Social Sharing Images

You can now set the preferred image to display in social sharing sites, on a page by page basis. We suggest you set a preferred image for your home page at least. Where as blogs and products pages this happens automatically. Refer to the RENAME tab of any page to set this image. 

 

New Features Coming

Our new developer Marat is busy working on one of our biggest updates in a while. We will be adding a booking management system in coming months. 

  • Customers can book a meeting or appointment from an availability calendar. 
  • Customers can book and pay for services, including deposits. 
  • Customers can view their bookings and modify dates or times, within set parameters. 
  • Customers can hire items, where availability is managed by our system, pay for deposits, etc. 

There is a lot of work going on, and we know this will be a popular feature.

Clearing your Browser Cache and Publishing

Caching speeds up your computer, but it also causes confusion when viewing changes to your website.  Every web master needs to become familiar with this concept. Almost a third of all our support tickets relate to mis understandings about caching. We can't change the nature of the internet, we only educate.

  • Pressing publish button is neccesary even before you go live. Pressing the publish button allows you to navigate your trial website. When you navigate your trial website, you are actually navigating the published pages in many cases. Only the first page to preview in preview mode usually shows your recent changes. 
  • Your web browser is not aware that you are currently editing your website. The web browser does not undersstand any connection between our website builder CMS, and your website with a completely different URL. You typically need to press REFRESH on your browser to see recent updates. Or you may even need to clear your browser cache.
