Do you have missing emails in your inbox? Have emails disappeared from your inbox?
There are several reasons why you may have missing emails.
Email Client Configuration
Some POP email clients are configured to remove emails from the server. This is an efficient way to receive your email, when the expecation is the email will be stored only in your office, or your email access will be managed by an IT consultant. If you leave all your email on the server, evenything eventually space is consumed, and checking your inbox becomes slow. So it is very reasonable to delete mail from the server. However, if you delete mail from the server, then you cannot share your mail with other devices, using our server. If you wish to keep email on the server, and share with multiple devices, then all devices must be connected using IMAP approaches, and not one device should have the deletion option checked.
Accidentily Deleting Email
Any device that has access to your email account can potentially delete an email, and this deletion will affect all devices. If you have concern for the safety of your inbox, then please consult with an IT professional who can configure more complicated arrangements for you.
Unlawful Hacker Access
There are many ways for hackers to get access to your email. Most commonly is guessing your password through brute force. Please ensure you pick very good passwords. Another common approach is to gain access via your personal computer or device being hacked. However a hacker gets access to your inbox, it will cause you trouble and stress. The best way to resolve this issue, is to use a different computer (a virus free computer) to login to our CMS and change your email password. Changing passwords is the fastest way to break access from hackers, who can send/receive until such time as your change your password. Then ensure you install anti virus software on your infected computer to clean up any viruses. Never reuse an old password. Never attempt to change passwords on an infected computer, as they will simply gain access to your new password straight away. We have never had hackers access mailboxes from anything other than poor password choices, or customers with hacked devices. Consult with an IT professional to manage the security of your devices.
Retrieving Deleted Email
We take backups of our customers email accounts daily. This means, that we cannot restore email that you have received today, but deleted since the last backup. We cannot restore emails that were received and deleted during previous days. We can only restore email that existed over night in your account, which typically covers permanent IMAP accounts only.
