Design template overview

For must users, the best option is to choose an existing template from our range of designs. These templates can customised easily to include your banner image or logo, text colours and more.

The design template defines the overall look and feel of your website. It controls the base design elements of your site and makes it easy to make global design changes without having to manually update every page.

Design Templates are useful when you want to make small design adjustments, or when you want to give an existing website a complete visual makeover.

What Can a Design Template Change?

A template controls the visual elements that make up your website's design. On most templates, you can make changes to things such as:

• Banners and header images
• Fonts and typography
• Colours
• Buttons and other design elements
• Layout and styling
• Other global design settings
• Stylesheets and advanced CSS adjustments

This means you can make a change to the template and have that change reflected throughout the relevant areas of your website, rather than editing individual pages one at a time.

Making Small Design Changes

You don't have to change your entire template to refresh your website. You can make subtle changes to the template you're currently using, such as updating colours, fonts or banners.

These changes can be made at any stage of the website design and content editing process, including after your website has gone live.

Giving Your Website a Makeover

You can also select a completely different available template to change the base look and feel of your website.

Changing the template gives your website a new design foundation while keeping your existing page content.

Changing to a New Template

To choose from the available templates:

1. Click Design.
2. Click Change to a new look and feel.
3. Make a backup of your current design first.
4. Follow the on-screen directions to select and apply your preferred template.

Changing the template will change the base design elements, but it will not replace the content on your normal website pages.

For example, content on pages such as:

• بيت
• معلومات عنا
• اتصال
• خدمات
• Other standard content pages

will remain in place. The template controls the design, not the content stored on these individual pages.

Importing a Template From Another Site

If you have created and customised a template on another website, such as a test or development site, you can transfer those template changes to your current live website.

At the very bottom of the Change to a new look and feel area, you will find your other available templates and the option to import a template from another site.

This can be particularly useful when you have spent time developing and testing a new design before applying it to a live website.

Important: Template Content vs Page Content

Importing or changing a template does not transfer the content from your other website.

For example, if you have created new content on the Home or About Us pages of your test site, that page content will not be imported when you transfer the template.

The template transfers the design and base elements only. Any page content that needs to be moved from the test site to the live site will need to be rebuilt or transferred separately.

When Can You Change a Template?

Design Templates are not something you need to finalise at the beginning of a website project.

You can make template changes:

• While the website is being designed
• While content is being added
• During ongoing website development
• After the website has gone live

This gives you the flexibility to evolve the design as your website grows.

Advanced Design Changes

For users who are comfortable with more advanced website customisation, additional changes can also be made through stylesheets and CSS.

This allows more detailed control over the appearance and behaviour of elements across the website.

If you're not familiar with CSS or stylesheets, it's best to leave these settings to an experienced developer, as changes can affect the appearance of multiple areas of the website.

In Summary

Think of your Design Template as the design framework for your website. Changing or updating the template can give the site a subtle refresh or a completely new look, while your existing page content remains safely in place.

Just remember: changing or importing a template changes the design, not the content of your normal website pages.
