This help file is for the "simple" buy 2, get 1 free type discount.

- Log in to your Website CMS.
- Navigate to: Ecommerce > Discounts / Promo Codes
- On the right-hand menu, click Add Buy X Get Y Free Promo.
- Enter the following details:
- Promo Code (Optional): Add a code if you’d like customers to enter it at checkout.
- Category (Optional): If the promotion applies to a specific category only, select that category from the dropdown list.
- Quantity: Enter the total number of items required to trigger the offer, including the free ones. Example: For a “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” offer, enter 3 here.
- Get Free Quantity: Enter the number of free items to give (e.g. 1).
- Click Add Promotion to save your offer. The promotion will now appear in your Discounts list.
- Test the Offer. Visit your website’s store and add the required number of items to your cart. Check that the discount is correctly applied at checkout.

To have a buy 2 get 1 free, it needs to have 3 items in the cart, as the customer will take 3 items out of the shop. So the condition is where 3 items are purchased.
However, if the free item is from a different category, that the conditional/reference items, then you can just specify 2. Because, buy 2 oranges get 1 apple free, then once you have 2 oranges, then apples become free. So min quantity of oranges is 2, target item is apples, and get 100% off 1 item of apples, per reference quantity.
If a more complex offer is needed as below, use the custom discounts area:
